Modec displays the whole range at the 2007 CV Show

The Commercial Vehicle Show 2007 displayed exactly how far Modec had progressed in the last year. Displaying the chassis cab (with battery on display), the Flatbed and Extended wheelbase box van gave hoards of visitors the opportunity to see just what Modec can offer. The world's first Tesco Modec, including chilled, frozen and ambient compartments, was also wowing crowds on the Soloman's stand.

In addition to showing off the vehicles Modec were also proud to announce the development of the UK dealership network. Negotiations are nearing conclusion with both KPM-UK Taxis Plc Group under their new ECO friendly vehicle banner, and Morgan Elliott to secure its first dealerships and strengthen the Coventry-based firm's representation across London and its surrounding areas.

KPM, in Bethnal Green and Morgan Elliott, in Croydon and Belvedere, will provide comprehensive vehicle sales, parts and workshop facilities to support and showcase the world's first high performance, emission free urban delivery vehicle.

Geoff Reyner, sales and marketing director said: "The Modec vehicle is clean, virtually silent and efficient - factors that will bring considerable benefits to businesses across London. The news that we are close to signing an agreement with KPM and Morgan Elliott allows us to showcase these superb vehicles and demonstrate in practical terms the environmental benefits that they deliver."

Modec, whose factory was officially opened last month by The Rt. Hon. David Cameron MP, has taken considerable steps forward since its initial unveiling at last year's Commercial Vehicle Show. The vehicles are now in active production and in hot demand, with orders for over 160 vehicles already taken. The first 15 vehicles are destined for Tesco's new environmental store in Shrewsbury. AccordMP, Hildon Water and Islington Borough Council are amongst the many other high profile customers that have committed to improve the environmental credentials of their fleets across a number of different industries and sectors.

Highways maintenance benefits from sustainable transport

Modec have secured two high profile contracts in the highways maintenance sector. This marks a first for the industry and will help to maintain London's streets without adding to the emission problem.

One new contract is with integrated highways management and maintenance company AccordMP, who have commissioned their first fleet of 10 Modec vehicles. The fleet will go into service this summer as part of the company's £40 million annual road maintenance and improvement contract for Transport for London's South London region.

"The use of Modec within AccordMP's fleet clearly impressed Transport for London and helped them secure this contract," explains Geoff Reyner, sales and marketing director at Modec. "We are also pleased to announce that highways maintenance specialists Amey Infrastructure Services Ltd quickly followed suit and also ordered 10 vehicles. Modec is a superb urban vehicle that is not only hugely capable and cost effective, but also allows maintenance companies to demonstrate in practical terms that they care about the environment."

AccordMP spokesman, Ashley Gibbons said: "AccordMP is delighted to have purchased the first 10 Modec zero emission vehicles to be introduced to highways maintenance in the UK. The robust Modec vehicles fit the bill perfectly and help us achieve our vision of introducing a sustainable transport strategy."

Modec appoints new sales rep

Modec has appointed a new member of staff to join its thriving sales team.

Andy Doran joins Modec as a Southern sales representative, bringing with him over 27 years experience in the motor trade. Prior to joining the company Andy was a Business Sales Executive with Citroën.

Andy will be selling the iconic battery-powered vehicles to fleets in the south, particularly London, whilst actively supporting Modec's new network of dealers.

"We are delighted to welcome Andy to the team," said Geoff Reyner, sales and marketing director. "Modec is gaining widespread recognition and hence we have been inundated with sales enquiries. Andy's excellent experience and forward-thinking approach make him the ideal person to compliment our dynamic team and add significant value to the organisation as a whole."

3rd April, Rockingham Ride & Drive

Modec were proud to exhibit their flatbed vehicles at the Green Fleet ride & drive event on 3rd April. This fantastic show was held at Rockingham speedway and was the perfect opportunity for Modec fans to get behind the wheel.

Feedback from the show was overwhelmingly positive and many quality conversations were held about getting Modec vehicles into service with organisations across the UK.

Thanks to the success of this event Modec will be attending the next Green Fleet ride & drive in London on 26th July 2007. Please see www.greenfleet.net or contact Catherine Hutt (chutt@modec.co.uk) for more details about these events.
